  22.     1.    I have spent the last few months working in a UNIX
  23.         environment where I am constantly using VI for reading
  24.         and editing files.  I discovered that switching back
  25.         and forth between VI and DOS style editors and file 
  26.         viewers can be very aggravating.  So I have taken the
  27.         large version of READ, modified it to accept VI commands,
  28.         and renamed it VF.  The big differences for READ users
  29.         are:

  31.           The string search commands have been modified for VI
  32.         compatibility.  About the only thing that works like it
  33.         used to is '\' for case insensitive searches.
  34.  
  35.           Because 'N' and 'n' are  used by VI to continue string
  36.         searches you now have to use ':n' and ':p' to move back
  37.         and forth between files.
  38.  
  39.           I have also added a few "modern" features.  Pressing
  40.         F5 will now allow you to read in a new file and pressing
  41.         F5 from the directory screen will allow you to change the
  42.         file mask.
  43.  
  44.           What used to be the '-f' option is now standard and
  45.         piped input will automatically be stored in a temporary
  46.         file.  This executes much faster than it used to.
  47.  
  48.           Video mode can be specified as an option if you know
  49.         the correct modes for your display adaptor.

  51.           I always thought line numbering would be a neat feature
  52.         so you can now toggle line numbers by pressing F6.  Unlike
  53.         VI the line numbers appear at the right hand side of the 
  54.         screen and you can use the Right Arrow key to shift the screen
  55.         and read any text in the last few columns.

  57.           Screen colors for VF can be set from the environment using
  58.         the environment variable VFCOLORS.  If VFCOLORS is not set
  59.         VF will use existing screen colors.

  62.     2.    I have added a "-b" option to DU to display disk usage in
  63.         bytes.
